In EVE Online, you have the possibility of customizing a ship with all sorts of weapons, armor, shield modules and many other items. With so much equipment, it can be difficult to figure out the best loadout for your ship, regardless if you are trying to fit a modest frigate or a mighty titan. This is where EVE Fitting Tool (EFT) comes in. It can be used to experiment with ship fittings outside the game. Instead of logging into EVE Online, taking your ship to a station, looking over different pieces of equipment and spending ISK (in-game money), you can just launch this lightweight utility and experiment with any fittings you want. What's more, the application can provide you with various details about your simulated ship, based on the selected equipment, your character's skills, as well as other parameters.

EVE Fitting Tool is offered completely free of charge and it is compatible with all popular Windows versions. There is no need to go through an installation process. All you have to do is extract the application's components from a ZIP archive and run the executable. Furthermore, you don't have to meet any special requirements and you don't need powerful hardware to run the program.

Learning the application's controls does not take long, even if you are a beginner in EVE Online. Thanks to the efficient layout of the user interface, you can start fitting your ship right away, without spending any time looking for the necessary options. All ships and equipment pieces are carefully organized in categories and sub-categories on the left side of the window. You can select a ship and equip it with the available items, by simply double clicking their names. Mounted items are placed automatically in the appropriate slots (low, medium or high), where they are displayed together with their CPU, power grid usage and other details. Of course, the application will never mount items on a ship, if they are not compatible.

As you mount more and more equipment on your ship, the application will update its stats automatically, on the right side of the interface. Based on what items you mount, EFT will display your ship's used and available CPU and power grid, as well as figures for firepower, defense, targeting, mobility and so on. You can view these statistics for a character with no skills or for a character with all skills maxed out. It is also possible to create a custom character, for which you can select specific skill levels and implants.

One of EFT's best features is the possibility of importing a character's skills directly from the game. Thus, you can see how the skills and implants of your own character affect the ship's stats and figure out if you still need to level-up a particular skill, before being able to purchase a certain item. Another useful feature is the application's DPS graph. If you have multiple ship setups, you can designate an attacker and a target on a small window, to see the damage per second (DPS) of the attacker, against the target, based on velocity vectors.

Pros

You can simulate any EVE Online ship fitting, without running the game and spending resources. The application provides you with numerous statistics, based on selected items and on your character's skills. It is also possible to see your ship's DPS against other custom ships.

Cons

There are no serious design flaws or functionality gaps to address. If you are not sure what items you should mount on your ship in EVE Online, EVE Fitting Tool will help you figure out what equipment will work best with your ship, without wasting any in-game resources.
